Darren Sims is a Law Clerk at KC Law Group, A Professional Law Corporation, where he supports the firm's litigation and advisory practice through legal research, case analysis, drafting, and strategic case development. He brings a unique perspective to the firm, combining legal training with an accomplished career in law enforcement and criminal investigations.
Darren currently serves as a Sergeant with the San Bernardino Police Department and has accumulated more than a decade of progressive experience in public safety, criminal investigations, and specialized enforcement operations. Throughout his career, he has served in several elite assignments, including the Specialized Enforcement Team, Narcotics Unit, Gang Unit, Federal Gang Task Force, Robbery Unit, and Homicide Unit. In recognition of his leadership, professionalism, and service to the community, he was named Officer of the Year in 2023.
Darren earned his Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne College of Law, where he graduated at the top of his class and was selected as the student commencement speaker. During law school, he received multiple CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, earned Student of Merit honors, and consistently achieved Dean's List recognition. He also served as a Contracts Teaching Fellow, assisting students in mastering foundational principles of contract law.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California Baptist University, where he competed as a collegiate athlete. In addition to his legal and law enforcement experience, Darren has served as a law enforcement union representative, advocating on behalf of officers in labor relations matters, contract negotiations, and disciplinary proceedings.
Darren's combined experience in law, investigations, leadership, and advocacy provides valuable insight into complex legal matters and enhances his ability to support clients facing challenging legal issues.
