Criminal and Administrative Defense Attorney

Michael S. Selyem serves as Of Counsel with KC Law Group where he assists clients in high-stakes criminal and administrative defense cases. 

Mike began his career in the field of criminal justice in 1994 when he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. With experience in patrol, corrections and training, Mike acquired tremendous knowledge of police procedure, policy, training and tactics. After nearly ten years,, Mike switched gears, 

graduating from UCLA School of Law. He began his legal career in 2006 as a prosecutor with the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office where he 

worked until 2019. There, Mike handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases in multiple assignments to include misdemeanor trials, juvenile cases, and felony preliminary hearings and trials. Mike also served in the Office’s the cold case homicide unit, and as the lead attorney of the hardcore gang and career criminal unit. 

After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Mike worked at a police defense firm, further strengthening his knowledge of administrative matters. To date, Mr. Selyem has tried nearly 30 murder and attempted murder cases from jury selection to verdict. He now uses his nearly three decades of experience in the criminal justice system to vigorously represent his clients and help them fight for their rights.
